Have a Question?

The tightly packed glossy purple and burgundy leaves of red cabbage are idolised by chefs all around the world. Red cabbages are known to have originated in Europe. The concentration of a flavonoid compound called anthocyanins is the reason behind the vibrant purple and burgundy colour of the cabbage. The flavour of red cabbage is slightly more pungent and peppery than common green cabbages. Red cabbages also carry far less water weight than their green counterparts. Red cabbage can be used raw and cooked in different recipes. Some of their most common applications are in preparing sauerkraut and coleslaw. Red cabbage has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which makes them highly revered in the health and wellness space.
