This New Year - Start a SIP for your Health
Previous PostHi, I’m Karan Mahajan, the founder of AllThatGrows, and I’m glad to connect with you through our blog - now a favourite among home gardeners across India.
As we reach the end of 2025, instead of giving you a list of seeds to plant, I wanted to take a few moments to share why home gardening is so important for building a healthier future for ourselves and our loved ones. I felt the need to reach out personally because, like many reluctant gardeners, I also struggled in the beginning to take up gardening with the passion I have today. So I understand why some of you might not feel enthusiastic about spending more time in the garden. But everything changed for me when I had my children and realised that staying healthy was non-negotiable if I wanted to be present for them at all times.
And believe me, good health truly starts at home.

December is also the season of shopping, at least in North India. With winter vacations and Christmas around the corner, and year-end sales running across almost every store, I’m sure many of you are busy buying the best clothes, shoes, toys etc for yourself and your family.
Now let me ask you something - are you putting the same time, money and effort into making sure the food you eat is actually clean and chemical-free? Because just picking up “fresh” greens from a shop or a quick-commerce app every week doesn’t automatically make them healthy. Unless you are absolutely certain of the source - meaning the farm where those greens were grown - you cannot count it as clean food. Vegetables and fruits spoil quickly due to their high water content, which is why they’re often treated with chemicals to survive long journeys from farms to your home.
So what’s the solution? It’s actually quite simple: start growing your own food, as much as you can. I know it may seem like a herculean task and you might say, “Karan, I don’t even have a garden. How am I supposed to grow vegetables for a family of four in the middle of the concrete jungle I live in?”
But trust me, it’s easier than you think. All you need is a balcony that receives at least 5–6 hours of direct sunlight - that’s it. That alone makes your home eligible for growing all kinds of vegetables, herbs, microgreens and more. Gather a few pots (12–18 inches deep), pick up some potting mix and good-quality seeds, and start your journey. Our website offers over 200 varieties of non-treated, chemical-free seeds along with gardening supplies crafted for home gardeners, supported by a team that is always eager to help you become one yourself.
And before I forget - if there’s one thing every home gardener should start with, it’s microgreens. They’re quick, nutrient-packed, and perfect for even the smallest balconies. Over the years, our community has built a strong, loyal love for our non-treated microgreen seeds, and it’s been amazing to see so many of you make them a daily part of your meals and your gardening routine.

And as we step into a brand-new year, let this be your most important SIP - your Systematic Investment Plan in Health. We have also added 24 new exotic varieties of vegetable, herb and fruit seeds to the AllThatGrows family. These are some of the most hearty, flavour-packed and fun-to-grow varieties we’ve ever brought in. Think of them as an invitation to try something new in your garden this year - maybe a new heirloom tomato, a fragrant herb or even a microgreen you never imagined you could grow at home.
I hope 2026 is the year you decide to plant that first seed, nurture those first leaves and take one more meaningful step towards a cleaner, healthier life for your family.
Here’s to growing - together in 2026!
