How did you start gardening?

I’ve loved gardening since childhood. It started by planting flowers and vegetables in our backyard with my mom, and on weekends my parents would take me to our farm where we grew all kinds of vegetables. Gardening has always been a part of my life - it brings me joy, peace, and feels like therapy. It also makes me feel deeply connected to nature.
What are some of your favourite plants to grow in the garden?

I enjoy growing seasonal crops and begin planning my garden with each new year. I particularly love the cold crop season because of the versatility it offers. Some plants, however, are always present in my garden - coriander, mint, spinach, and bok choy. They’re easy to grow, thrive year-round, and provide fresh harvests regularly. In addition, I am continually drawn to experimenting with new flower varieties.
What are some of the plants you’ve not had as much success with?

Ranunculus has been a challenge. Last year, I planted them enthusiastically but, lacking prior experience and sufficient research, I did not achieve the results I hoped for. Nonetheless, I am eager to try again with improved knowledge and preparation.
Are there any new plants on your wishlist?

Yes!! Tulips and peonies are high on my list, and I am looking forward to growing them this year.
What would you like to say to new gardeners?

Gardening is both rewarding and therapeutic. It’s such a joy to connect with nature while also growing your own food. For beginners, the process may seem overwhelming and daunting, but there are abundant resources and gardening communities available online to guide and inspire you. The key is to start small, remain patient, and take joy in the process.
Any gardening hack you’d like to share?

I always advocate for sustainable practices, one such practice is composting kitchen scraps and vegetable waste, as well as using weeds as mulch. Compost feeds the soil, while mulch protects it - two simple practices that really improve the garden’s health.
Any particular Instagram accounts you follow for inspiration?

Yes! Quite a few, but my top two are AllThatGrows - for updates and exciting new seeds, and Blossom and Branch Farm, which inspires me with its sustainable gardening practices.
