Gaillardia (Blanket Flower) sets the garden alight with cheerful, double blooms in warm reds, oranges and golden yellows. Planting instructions
Blanketflower is grown from seeds. Sow seeds directly into your flower garden, or start seeds indoors, for transplanting later.
Sow seeds early in the spring season and cover lightly with 1/8" of fine garden or potting soil.
Seeds can take up to 3 weeks to germinate.
Ideal plant spacing is 14"-16".
Thin or transplant seedlings, if needed, when they reach 2". They can tolerate a little crowding.

It can grow in a variety of soil types, including loamy to rocky to sandy. The flower tolerates a soil pH range from 6.2 to 7.2.

They can tolerate a temperature that ranges between 21-24°C [70-75°F].
watering
Water the bed once or twice per week during dry conditions. Avoid mulching or overwatering blanket flower.
how to harvest
Harvest Flower: Trim away the flower stalk once the petals drop away. The seed head begins to look brown and dry.
Harvest Seed: Put the seeds in a dry bag over a well-ventilated area. Leave the bag open to ensure ventilation for the drying seeds. Dry the seeds for approximately two weeks.
Hold a seed head above a bowl. Gently rub the seed head to free the seeds so they fall into the bowl. Pick out any stem or non-seed material that falls into the bowl.
Store the seeds in a sealed jar or bag. Keep it in a cool, dark place until you are ready to plant the blanket flowers.
