Pumpkin Halloween variety was first grown by native Americans as a part of the ‘three sisters’ gardens, the other two being beans and corn. Now you can grow & carve your own Halloween pumpkin during autumn. The thick skin of this variety of the pumpkin makes them ideal for carving. Pumpkin Halloween can be used in a number of sweet and savoury recipes including pumpkin pies, bread, muffins, spices and pasta-based recipes. The outer ribbed rind of the pumpkin is bright orange with orange yellow flesh on the inside.

Planting instructions
Sow 2-3 seeds per mound in loosely packed soil at a depth of 1 inch. Pumpkin seeds will germinate in warm and moist growing conditions. Seedlings will appear within 12 to 15 days when the soil moisture is consistently above 20°C. Thin to one healthiest seedling per mound. Space each growing mound 6-8 feet apart for optimum fruit growth.

Squash bugs, cucumber beetles, aphids, powdery mildew are the common pests that can attack pumpkin halloween plants. In addition to this, some diseases like wilting, damping off are common. Regular plant check ups and organic solutions like soapy water or diluted neem spray work best to manage this.

Well-drained soil rich in organic matter is ideal for growing pumpkin halloween. Make sure the soil is weed free before planting.

Pick a sunny spot to grow pumpkins with lots of sprawling space. The pumpkin halloween vines will require 70 to 100 sq feet per growing patch.
temperature
The ideal soil temperature for germination of seeds should be between 20 to 25°C.
watering
Pumpkins require a lot of soil moisture to grow well. Water deeply without wetting the vines and foliage too much since that can cause fungal diseases. Mulch to retain optimum soil moisture.
how to harvest
Harvest halloween pumpkins once the outer rind is hard enough and bright orange in colour. Snip the ready pumpkin fruit with the help of scissors or knife with a part of the stem still attached. If you snip off the stem, the pumpkin will not store well. Pumpkin halloween will keep for upto 3-4 month when kept in a controlled environment.
