Another variety of peppers brings some much-needed heat to your recipes. Red Cherry Pepper is rated at 40,000 to 50,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units). The round shape of these peppers makes them look like cherry tomatoes with firm, glossy and smooth skin and turn red once they are ripe for picking. These peppers are a good source of Vitamin C, which helps boost antioxidants and collagen in the skin. You can use this variety of pepper in both raw and cooked applications. Red Cherry Peppers will stay fresh for 1-2 weeks when stored in the refrigerator.

Growing guide for Red Cherry Pepper Seeds

Planting instructions

Sow seeds 1 cm deep in well-drained soil and space them 30-45 cm apart. Ensure they receive full sunlight for optimal growth.

Growing Requirements

pests & diseases

Red Cherry Peppers are relatively resilient but watch out for common pests like aphids and spider mites. Use organic pesticides or introduce beneficial insects to control infestations.

soil

They thrive in well-drained, fertile soil rich in organic matter. Amend the soil with compost before planting for the best results.

spot

Choose a sunny spot that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily to ensure healthy growth and fruit development.

temperature

Ideal growing temperatures range between 20-30°C. Protect the plants from frost and extreme heat to prevent damage.

watering

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water at the base of the plant to avoid wetting the foliage and reduce the risk of fungal diseases.

how to harvest

Harvest when the peppers are fully red and firm to the touch. Use scissors or a sharp knife to cut the peppers from the plant, leaving a small stem attached to prolong freshness. Enjoy them fresh in salads, pickled, or as a garnish for various dishes.
