Alyssum Procumbens, also known as Lobularia Maritima, is an annual flower with creamy white fragrant flowers. This is a compact variety of Alyssum Flowers which produces beautiful blooms year round. A wind tolerant flower, the plant of Alyssum Procumbens Snow White grows out into a branched stem with a bundle of small flowers which are about 5 ml in width. The foliage around the plant is broad & oval in shape. A native of the Mediterranean & Gallic region, the flower gives out a pungent fragrance and is ideal for rock beds, balconies, & container/pot gardens. Natural pest repellent properties of Alyssum Procumbens makes them a great companion plant for vegetable & herb gardens at home. Flowers bloom well in spent bulbs are removed regularly. Coastal locations can also enjoy the elegant view of this flower since the blooms are wind tolerant.

Planting instructions

Directly sow seeds in the soil in a spot that gets full sun to partial shade after the danger of frost has passed. Alyssum Procumbens Snow White seeds are sown at a distance of 6 inches apart by generously sprinkling the seeds on the soil covered with a light layer of soil. Gently pat the soil and keep it evenly moist.

The seedlings will start to emerge within 8 to 10 days. Alyssum Procumbens Snow White plants need regular watering. Water them enough so that puddles of water form around the plant. This helps the plants to settle into their new home and gets rid of air pockets resulting in good root to soil contact.

Alyssum Procumbens grow well in well-drained and composted soil that can hold ample moisture in throughout summers. Keep in mind that warm & dry spells can cause the flower to die. Thus, the soil must be kept optimely moist. In case you can not compost your garden soil, you can use organic vermicompost.

The flower prefers full sun but can tolerate moderate shade as well.

how to harvest

The flowers are best enjoyed as outdoor plants since they do not live long as cut flowers.

However, the flower bulb will ripen to a brown color and can give a unattractive look if not removed from the plant.

Simple trimming of deal blooms will propagate growth of new blooms.
