Planting instructions
Even though Asters can be grown from seeds, germination may be uneven. It is advisable to start Aster Pompon flowers indoors during the winter season. Sow the seeds in pots or flat trays and keep them in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 weeks to simulate the winter dormancy.
Aster seeds are sown 1 inch deep into the soil. After 4 to 6 weeks, keep the pots or trays in a sunny spot in your home. You can transplant the seedlings outdoors once the danger of frost has passed.
If you are planting seedlings with the transplanting method, it is best to do it from mid to late spring. Keep a distance of 1 to 3 feet between the plants, depending upon the type of Aster you are growing and how large the plant can get.
Asters require regular watering at the time of planting and germination. After planting, add mulch to the soil to keep it cool and prevent the growth of weeds.
Growing Requirements
soil
The soil where you are planting Aster Pompon should be loamy and well drained. Optimum moisture in the soil is the basic requirement to have a conducive growing medium.
