Growing guide for Basil Lettuce Leaf Seeds

Planting instructions

Basil Lettuce Leaf can be grown easily in containers, raised beds, or garden plots. Sow the seeds 0.5 cm deep in well-drained soil and keep 20–25 cm between each plant for proper air circulation and growth. Regularly pinch the top leaves to encourage bushier growth and prevent early flowering. This also helps maintain the flavour and tenderness of the leaves for longer.

Growing Requirements

pests & diseases

Aphids, whiteflies, and fungal leaf spots can occasionally affect the plant. Use organic neem oil spray and ensure good airflow around the plants to prevent infestations.

soil

Prefers light, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Loamy or sandy soil with a neutral pH (6–7) is ideal for healthy growth.

spot

Choose a sunny location where the plant can receive at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Partial shade is acceptable in very hot regions.

temperature

Basil Lettuce Leaf grows best in warm conditions, ideally between 20°C to 30°C. It is sensitive to frost and should be protected from cold drafts.

watering

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the plants early in the morning to allow the foliage to dry before nightfall and prevent fungal issues.

how to harvest

Harvest tender leaves once the plant reaches about 25 cm in height, typically after 60–70 days of sowing. Pick leaves regularly to encourage new growth. Fresh leaves can be added to salads, soups, pasta sauces, and homemade pesto for a fragrant, mild basil flavour.
