Green beans, also known as french beans, pencil beans, string beans and snap beans, are much-loved all over the world and consumed in a variety of ways. Steamed, sauteed, grilled, roasted, stir-fried, or simply freshly picked. So gorge on this green vegetable, full of carotenoids, any which way you like. Green beans are a great source of the less popular nutrients like Manganese and Silicon, crucial for bone health, along with Vitamin K, C, B2, dietary fibre and folate. Scoring high on the antioxidant scale too, consuming green beans is beneficial to reduce the risk of colon cancer, heart disease, obesity, and keep the stress levels to a minimum low. This super veggie also boosts immunity and helps regulate and manage blood sugar levels.
With so many plus points, there is clearly no way why you won't include these fresh green beans in your diet. Grow fresh and enjoy the goodness!

Pests & Diseases
Pests: Aphids, Mites, Cutworms, Beetles. Diseases - White mold, mosaic, fungal diseases. Watering the plants in the morning helps to avoid fungal diseases. Companion plants significantly reduce incoming pests on your crops. Watering down the plants with a strong stream of water followed by an application of diluted neem or castor oil on the pest-affected parts of the plant will help to get rid of them.
soil

Beans are great for the ground where they can get at least 5-6 hours of sunlight in a day.
temperature
The ideal germination temperature for beans is between 18°C to 24°C.
watering
Seeds need to be watered regularly. Make sure that the soil is moist for the first 2 weeks of planting. Once the seeds have germinated, water the plants by sprinkling for the following 2 weeks. Maintain a regular watering schedule. Keep a tab on the moisture level of the soil.
how to harvest
Green Beans are ready for their first harvest in 45-75 days. When the bean pods are 3 inches to 4 inches in length, they would be ready to harvest.
While harvesting, pull the pods in a downward direction to avoid uprooting the plant. Don’t use hard knives or scissors for picking the beans. You can simply pinch them off with your fingers.
After harvesting the produce, water the plants and feed them some liquid fertilizers to promote the growth of the next produce. Beans can be stored in the refrigerator by wrapping in a paper towel for up to 7 days.
