Have a Question?

Gladiolus Flevo Fusion is a beautiful flowering bulb variety known for its tall flower spikes and elegant, ruffled blooms in soft salmon-pink to coral-pink shades with creamy white throats. The flowers have broad, gently wavy petals that open gradually along the stem, creating a lovely display of colour from the lower buds upwards. Each tall, upright stem carries several large, funnel-shaped flowers, making this variety an excellent choice for garden borders, flower beds, patio containers and cut-flower arrangements. Its sword-shaped green leaves grow upright around the sturdy stems, adding height and structure to the garden even before the flowers appear. Growing to approximately 120–150 cm tall, Gladiolus Flevo Fusion creates an eye-catching vertical display and pairs beautifully with white, pink, peach and purple flowers. It prefers a sunny location with fertile, well-drained soil and regular watering during active growth. With the right care, these bulbs reward home gardeners with striking seasonal blooms that bring colour to outdoor spaces and make elegant additions to indoor vases. The variety is particularly suited to gardeners who enjoy growing their own cut flowers and want something colourful, graceful and easy to combine with other flowering plants.

Growing guide for Gladiolus Flevo Fusion Bulbs

Planting instructions

Prepare the soil by loosening it to a depth of about 25–30 cm and mixing in well-rotted compost. Plant the bulbs, also called corms, pointed side up, about 10–15 cm deep in the ground and 10–15 cm apart. For containers, use a pot at least 35–40 cm deep and 30–35 cm wide, with drainage holes.

Growing Requirements

Pests

Gladiolus may be affected by thrips, aphids, slugs and snails. Avoid overwatering and poor drainage to prevent bulb rot and fungal diseases, and remove affected leaves promptly.

soil

Gladiolus grows best in fertile, loose, well-drained sandy loam soil rich in organic matter. A slightly acidic to neutral soil with a pH of around 5.5–7.0 is suitable for healthy growth.

spot

Choose a sunny, sheltered spot that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. A flower bed, garden border or spacious sunny patio is ideal, as the tall flower spikes may need support against strong winds.

temperature

A temperature range of around 15–25°C is suitable for healthy growth and flowering. Protect the bulbs from frost and avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, especially when the plants are young.

watering

Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil evenly moist during active growth. Water when the top layer of soil begins to dry, avoiding waterlogging, which can cause the bulbs to rot.

how to harvest

Cut the flower spike when the first one or two flowers at the bottom begin to open, preferably during the cooler hours of the day. Use clean, sharp scissors and place the stems in fresh water immediately to help keep the flowers looking fresh for longer.
