Planting instructions
Spinach Black Magic can be grown easily in both containers and garden beds. Sow the seeds about 1.5–2 cm deep in moist, well-drained soil. Maintain a spacing of 10–15 cm between plants to allow ample air circulation and leaf growth.
Growing Requirements
pests & diseases
Keep an eye out for common pests such as aphids, leaf miners, and cutworms. Regular inspection and use of organic neem-based sprays help in controlling infestations. Avoid overwatering to prevent fungal leaf spots.
soil
Grows best in rich, loamy soil with good drainage and high organic matter. The ideal soil pH should range between 6.0 and 7.0 for optimal growth and nutrient uptake.
spot
Choose a spot that receives full to partial sunlight. In warmer regions, light afternoon shade helps protect the leaves from scorching.
temperature
Spinach Black Magic thrives in temperatures between 10°C to 25°C, making it well-suited for the Indian winter growing season.
watering
Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Regular watering is essential for tender leaf production, especially during dry spells. Mulching can help retain soil moisture.
how to harvest
You can start harvesting the outer leaves in 30–40 days after sowing. Regular picking encourages new leaf growth. The crisp, curled leaves are excellent in salads, stir-fries, smoothies, soups, and Indian dishes like palak paneer or dal palak.
