Growing guide for Squash Custard White Seeds

Planting instructions

Seeds can be grown directly in garden beds or large containers (minimum 30 cm deep). Sow seeds 2–3 cm deep and maintain a plant-to-plant distance of 60–75 cm for optimal growth and airflow.

Growing Requirements

pests & diseases

Common pests include aphids, squash bugs, and leaf miners. Regular inspection and neem oil sprays can help manage infestations. Powdery mildew can occur in humid conditions—ensure proper spacing and ventilation to avoid it.

soil

Thrives best in well-drained, fertile soil rich in organic matter. Adding compost or aged manure before planting improves yield and flavour.

spot

Choose a sunny location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth and fruiting.

temperature

Ideal growing temperatures range between 22°C to 30°C. Protect seedlings from cold drafts or temperatures below 15°C.

watering

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply at the base early in the morning to avoid wetting the foliage.

how to harvest

Harvest tender fruits 50–60 days after sowing when they are about 5–7 cm in diameter for the best flavour. These creamy, buttery squashes are delicious when sautéed, grilled, or stuffed and make an excellent addition to soups and stews.
