The red yard long beans originated from China back in the 18th Century. Different varieties of yard long beans are a popular addition in salads, stir-fried and vegetable curries all across Asia. The deep maroon colour bean grows up to 20 to 24 inches in length. These beans do well in hot and humid climates and take about 70 to 90 days to mature. Their crispy and tender texture makes them a perfect addition to all kinds of savoury recipes.
Planting instructions
Red yard long beans love some hot and humid weather. Start planting the seeds once the soil temperature has warmed up to 22℃. Plant the seeds about 1 inch deep and at least 3-4 inches apart, thinning to 6 to 8 inches apart once the seedlings are mature. The rows should be spaced 5-6 inches apart. The soil should be well drained and free of debris. Maintain consistent soil moisture until germination which should occur within 8 to 10 days of planting. It is also recommended to have stakes in place before planting so as to give proper support to the seedlings.

All varieties of yard long beans like to grow in full sunlight.
temperature

watering
Red yard long bean plants require consistent watering for pod formation. However, they can develop fungal diseases in soggy soil.
how to harvest
