Reviews

Salvia Blue is a striking flowering plant that brightens any garden with its tall, slender spikes of vivid blue to violet blooms. Each flower cluster stands gracefully above lush, lance-shaped green leaves, creating a stunning contrast that attracts butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. Perfect for adding vertical interest, Salvia Blue thrives beautifully in garden borders, cottage gardens, pollinator patches, and decorative containers. The long-lasting blooms make them a favourite for cut flower arrangements and summer displays.

Growing guide for Salvia Blue Flower Seeds

Planting instructions

Sowing Depth: Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in well-draining soil. Plant-to-Plant Distance: Maintain 30–40 cm between plants to ensure proper air circulation and growth. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination, which occurs in about 10–14 days.

Growing Requirements

Pests

Salvia Blue is generally pest-resistant but may occasionally attract aphids or whiteflies. Fungal infections such as powdery mildew can occur if the plant is overcrowded or overwatered. Ensure good spacing and moderate watering to prevent disease.

soil

Prefers light, well-draining, moderately fertile soil. Avoid heavy clay or waterlogged soil to prevent root rot.

spot

Choose a sunny location where the plant can receive at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for abundant flowering.

temperature

Ideal temperature for growth is between 18°C and 28°C. The plant can tolerate light heat but benefits from partial shade during extreme summer days.

watering

Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Overwatering can lead to fungal issues, so ensure proper drainage.

how to harvest

Cut flower spikes early in the morning when half the blooms on each spike have opened. Remove any leaves below the water line before placing them in a vase. Pair Salvia Blue with white daisies, marigolds, or yellow chrysanthemums for a vibrant contrast. Change the vase water every 2–3 days, trim stems diagonally, and keep the arrangement away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
